All hotel loyalty programs offer the option to earn points OR miles with any of the partner airlines.
Traditionally, it has been always more beneficial when you stick with the original program. e.g., earn and burn hotel points with the same hotel program. Similarly, for airlines’ loyalty programs.
However, there is an interesting new trend where you can earn your regular points as well as miles with certain partner airlines.
Accor lets you earn additional miles with Flying Blue on an ongoing basis.
And now, Hyatt is offering 1000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles for every qualifying stay of 2 or more nights at select hotels in the US. Hyatt has offered similar promotions in the past as well.
This offer doesn’t require you to change your earning preference to airmiles or give up on World of Hyatt points for your stays. This is in addition to the regular World of Hyatt points you would anyway earn.
You need to register for the promotion first.
The registration for the promotion is available until August 31st, 2022. Once registered, you will earn bonus miles for all qualifying stays of 2 or more nights completed between July 5, 2022 and September 5, 2022.

Conclusion
Although limited to a handful of hotels in the US, this is still a good promotion. If you do stay with Hyatt, there is no harm in registering for the promotion right away.
