A few months ago, IHG announced that they would be partnering with Apple to introduce AirPlay in their hotel rooms. Now, IHG has become the first hospitality company to implement this feature.
Streaming content on hotel room TVs has always been a pain point for many travellers, with the only option often being to log into personal Netflix accounts on the hotel’s TV - not exactly ideal. Thankfully, the introduction of AirPlay support can help alleviate this issue, particularly for iPhone users.
How to connect to Apple AirPlay on your hotel room’s TV?
By scanning a unique QR code displayed on the screen of your hotel room’s LG TV, you can automatically connect both to the TV and to the hotel’s Wi-Fi network. Once connected, you can share virtually anything from your iPhone or iPad directly onto the TV screen.
The feature also allows multiple devices to be paired with the TV, so if you’re traveling with friends or family, they too can make use of it.
Each QR code is unique to each hotel room, which ensures that whatever guests share on the hotel TV remains personal and private. Moreover, when guests check out, their connection to the TV is deleted so neither future guests nor hotel staff can access their activity.
