Vistara has announced that they will be offering free basic in-flight Wi-Fi service for Club Vistara members, a move that is expected to benefit most passengers. This plan is available to all Club Vistara members, regardless of their status, miles, or flight count.
Under this complimentary “Chat plan,” passengers will be able to use messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger, and iMessage for free during their flight. However, it’s important to note that sending or receiving photos, videos, or audio files will not be possible.
To take advantage of this offer, Club Vistara members must ensure that their Club Vistara ID is linked to their reservation.
Typically, in-flight internet service is only available once the aircraft reaches a height of 10,500 feet or higher.
Currently, Vistara offers Wi-Fi on international flights operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner or Airbus A321neo aircraft.
How to activate the free messaging plan?
To activate the free messaging plan during a Vistara flight, there are a few things passengers need to do before boarding:
- Complete the enrollment process and verify contact details (both email and mobile number).
- Add the CV ID to the booking.
- Ensure that the member’s name on the ticket exactly matches their Club Vistara account.
The complimentary Wi-Fi service can only be used by the member themselves and on a single device. It’s also worth mentioning that if you are opting to earn miles through another airline program, you may not be eligible for this free plan.
Free data for Business Class/CV Platinum
Passengers flying Business Class or holding Club Vistara Platinum status will receive 50MB of free data for use onboard. This can be used for browsing in addition to the unlimited messaging service.
To avail both benefits, members must activate the 50MB surf package before activating the unlimited messaging service.
Paid Plans
For those who require more data than what’s offered in the free messaging plan, additional data can be purchased onboard. The following plans are currently available:
- Chat: INR 372.74 (USD 4.95) — Unlimited data for messaging apps (complimentary for Club Vistara members).
- Surf: INR 1577.54 (USD 20.95) — Unlimited data for audio and video streaming on social media and websites.
- Stream: INR 2707.04 (USD 35.95) — Unlimited data for all streaming protocols.
Please note that in-flight purchases cannot be made using cards issued in India. Customers must purchase their desired plan before boarding the flight due to the OTP requirement for Indian credit cards.
